For the Hamburger Steaks:

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 4-5 patties.
  • Sear patties in a skillet over medium-high heat, 3-4 minutes per side. Set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter, add onions, and cook for 8-10 minutes until golden. Stir in garlic, then flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; simmer until thickened (5-7 minutes).
  • Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over, and simmer for 10 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
