For the Hamburger Steaks:
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Onion Gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 4-5 patties.
- Sear patties in a skillet over medium-high heat, 3-4 minutes per side. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter, add onions, and cook for 8-10 minutes until golden. Stir in garlic, then flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; simmer until thickened (5-7 minutes).
- Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over, and simmer for 10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Garnish with parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
