- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 tbsp butter
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Make the Mashed Potatoes:
- Boil peeled and cubed potatoes in salted water for 15-20 minutes, or until tender.
- Drain and return to the pot. Mash with butter and heavy cream until smooth.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cover and set aside.
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove excess grease if necessary.
- Add Aromatics:
- Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic.
- Sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until softened and fragrant.
- Make the Spicy Gravy:
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture, stirring to coat evenly.
- Gradually add beef broth and tomato sauce while stirring to prevent lumps.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
- Serve:
- Spoon the mashed potatoes onto plates.
- Top with the savory ground beef and spicy gravy mixture.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
